First Step … Determine whom your audience and purpose is for your web site.

Second Step … Visit other sites to get ideas and explore the options available.

 

Third Step … Choose your Software Program for developing a Web page

·        FrontPage

·        Microsoft Word / HTML

·        Adobe PageMill

·        DreamWeaver

·        Netscape

·        Hyperstudio

·        PowerPoint

·        Page Generators available at Web Page Building sites such as Homestead or Geocities

 

Fourth Step … Organizing your Web site… flowchart

 

Fifth Step … Creating Web Pages

·       Finding/creating graphics   copyright, more graphics slower loading page, insert

·       Researching and exploring links … evaluate, some require permission to link (see checklist)

Sixth Posting Your Web Page

·       Ask school if they have a web page if your site can be posted within it

·       If you have internet service at home your provided has to allow you to host a page of your own … you may then need to have your own FTP program to upload documents and graphics to your site.

·       Some Internet Service Providers will offer free or inexpensive web hosting such as geocities.com, angelfire.com, teacherweb.com,  homestead.com  just to name a few

·       Educational Services also can provide free templates, tools for creating and storing your Web site;   American School,  and Family Education Network.
