Third Grade School Store

An Opportunity to Experience Math Concepts and Application in a Real-Life Setting

    Third Grade maintains and operates a 'School Store' for the purpose of providing an inexpensive place within the school for our students to buy school supplies that they may need or want .  This store generally is open to the student body(3rd through 8th) prior to beginning our school day.  A sample receipt  (below)  lists supplies available and their respective price.

   Our students take turns working at the Third Grade School Store on a rotating basis.  By working in the store, the children get to experience "real-life math applications" in counting money, adding up purchases, making change, and polite interaction helping others.  Making math real to our learners enables our students to gain knowledge and skills that they will use and need as they grow, and gain an appreciation for the value of learning math.
