Nouns are special words;

   A noun names a person, place, or thing.
   A common noun names any person, place, or thing.
   A proper noun names a special person, a special place, or a special thing.
   A proper noun begins with a capital letter.

 

  Titles such as Mr. and Dr. are abbreviated correctly and are followed by a period.

Identifying nouns in a sentence:

The wolf, feeling the weight leave his back, ran to his den.

wolf - person,  weight - thing,  back - thing,   den - place

A third-generation Japanese American, Sheila Hamanaka is proud of her heritage.

third-generation - thing,   Japanese - Proper noun/person,  American - Proper noun/person,  Sheila Hamanaka - Proper noun/person,  heritage - thing
