Windows 98 Power Web Internet Setup

  1. Go to the Start menu, Programs, Internet Explorer then click Connection Wizard.
  2. Select the Middle option that reads "I have an existing Internet account…", then click Next.
  3. Select the first option which talks about using an Internet Service provider or Local area network. Click Next.
  4. Select the option which reads "Connect using my phone line." Click next.
  5. If prompted, choose "Create a new dial-up connection". Click Next.
  6. Uncheck the box that says "Dial using the area code and country code". Then fill in your access phone number. Use 885-7865 for 33.6 or under Beaver Dam local calls. If you have a 56k Modem, use 885-7720. All local Mayville customers should use 387-7140. Click Next.
  7. Enter your User name and password (use lower case letters). Click Next.
  8. When asked to change the advanced settings for this connection click No. Click Next.
  9. For the Connection Name box, type in Power Web. Click Next.
  10. When prompted to set up an Internet Mail account click yes. Click Next.
  11. If prompted, choose the option to Create a New Internet Mail Account. Click Next.
  12. Type in Your Name. Click Next.
  13. Type in your email address (EXAMPLE: russm@powerweb.net). Click Next.
  14. Fill in pwc.powerweb.net for both incoming and outgoing mail options. Click Next.
  15. Fill in your POP account name (this is your user name. EXAMPLE: russm). Fill in your password. Click Next.
  16. For the Internet mail account name just accept what the computer puts in there for you. Click Next.
  17. When prompted to set up an Internet News account click Yes. Click Next.
  18. If prompted, choose the option to Create a New Internet News account. Click Next.
  19. On display name, type your name if it is not already there. Click Next.
  20. On display email address, type your email address if it is not already there. Click next.
  21. Fill in news.powerweb.net for News (NNTP) server. Click Next.
  22. For the Internet news account name just accept what the computer puts in there for you. Click Next.
  23. When prompted to set up your Internet directory service account, click No. Click Next.
  24. Click Finish.
