PLAN FOR YOUR FUTURE

If you're a high shool senior, you can earn extra money, prepare for a career, serve your country and even earn money for college while completing school.

You can do all this through the Army Reserve's Alternate Training Program.

This program is designed to help you prepare for your future while still fulfilling your current high school or college commitments.

At the same time, Army Reserve training will add an exciting dimension to your life.

EARN WHILE YOU LEARN

You'll start earning over $120 a month during the school year, even before you go away for Basic Training. (Monthly pay for seniors starts nine months before Basic Training.)

Then in the summer, while at Basic Training, you'll earn over $1,700, plus room and board.
So, when you sign up for the Army Reserve, you're already lined up with a summer job.

EARN MONEY FOR COLLEGE

When you're in college, your time commitment to the Army Reserve will be minimized as much as possible, to avoid interference with school work.

Yet you can earn more than $17,500 pay during a standard enlistment which you can use toward your college costs.

In addition, if you qualify for the Student Loan Repayment Program, the Army Reserve can, for every year you serve, repay 15 percent of your qualifying student loan, or $500, whichever is greater.

A maximum of $10,000 can be repaid; select specialties in specific units can double that maximum.

TRAIN FOR YOUR CHOSEN CAREER

You'll get to choose an area of concentration, for which you qualify, from nearly 200 Army Reserve specialties, from health care and military intelligence to data processing and law enforcement.

That skill will be the focus of your Advanced Individual Training, which usually lasts eight to twelve weeks.

This training is usually conducted during your summer vacation.

The specialized skills you acquire can serve you well in civilian life, too.

FLEXIBLE TRAINING

Reserve duty is flexible enough to fit the academic year.

Most unit assemblies are set for one weekend a month, leaving the rest of the month free for classes and study.

Meanwhile your Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training can be split and held over two consecutive summers.

In addition to having the most exciting summer jobs possible, you could earn over $4,000.

CHALLENGE

The Army Reserve will challenge you both physically and mentally.

From your first sit-up in Basic Training through your individual skill training, you'll be stretched to meet your fullest potential.
