To transport and stock native fish throughout Wisconsin, the states
fisheries commission was formed and purchased its first fish car ,
Badger No. 1, in 1893. That year this car was used to transport the
Wisconsin live fish exhibit to the Worlds Fair in Chicago. In 1912,
Badger No. 2 was purchased and used through the 1940's.  The Milwaukee
Road had its own fish cars which were used by commercial fishermen to
ship fresh Wisconsin fish nationwide through the 1950's.
