Add more excitement to your layout stockyard operations with these two single door ACF 40-ton stock cars. Car 102721with SD markings was one of 2000 built in 1927 by the Bettendorf Co. for the Milwaukee Road. Car 105254 with SM markings was one of 1125 built in 1929 by the Standard Steel Car Co. and was slightly longer. Class SD indicated a single deck car with four drop bottom doors to facilitate cleaning, SM, without drop bottoms. Although livestock was a commodity in steady decline after WW II, stock cars were used by railroads through the 60’s.
These cars were developed by the Milwaukee Lionel Railroad Club, Inc. members and will be manufactured by Lionel LLC. Included will be die-cast sprung trucks, die-cast metal frame with metal underframe details and opening side doors. Car length 11½” (cattle not included)
