Kent's Layout
(Updated pictures Sept 2008)
The layout is approximately 40' x 20'. The track design is
by Don Cardiff (you will see his ads in O gauge RR) who implemented my request
of long running, serpentine curves, and not seeing the trains turn around,
exceptionally well. The layout features a double track mainline of approximately
300' ea. and unlike the club's layout, it features changes in elevation which
adds lots of drama to the scenes. The walls are covered with photo murals
from www.backdropwarehouse.com. The city or metro area was designed by myself
and implemented by Gil Bruck. Gil's fishing vessel and scene surrounding it
are magnificent. Gil's trade mark leaky Larry is in the far right corner relieving
himself on the wall!! Dick Kloes of the Badgerland Flyer club worked with
Gil & I on the backdrop & the canyon which is not yet complete. My
close friend (since junior high) Jim Frigge, built the Miami bridges, the
Korber round house and the Bowser turntable with more detail and quality than
anyone has ever done before. They are exceptional!!!
My primary assistant on the running of trains is my Grandson Austin, currently
age 11. Austin can run 10 trains at a time on 2 tracks with the assistance
of MTH DCS. He is so careful I don't have a thing to worry about! Austin is
also a great help with the building, laying track and working on the layout.
He makes me VERY proud!
We have a long way to go, but it is up & running. The canyon & logging
railroad with trestle is yet to be completed as is the 6 track passenger station.
It is a lot of fun! We hope to be on next year's round robin with a more complete
product.
